Board of European Consul’s Union (F.U.E.C.H.) meets in Valletta, Malta
The Board of “Fédération de l’Union Européenne des Consuls Honoraires (F.U.E.C.H.)“ resp. “Federation of European Unions of Honorary Consuls (F.U.E.C.H.)” met in the Knight’s Hall at Hotel Phoenicia in Valletta, Malta.
President Hon. Consul General Dr. W. Breitenthaler welcomed the F.U.E.C.H. Board-Members including, Hon. President Hon. Consul General Ann-Katrin Bauknecht, who travelled from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and France to attend this meeting. The Board officially welcomed the Consular Corps of Malaga, Valencia and the Consular Corps of Italy (F.E.N.C.O.) as new members of F.U.E.C.H.
The a.o. welcomed a new Board-Member and agreed on a new, updated Constitution for F.U.E.C.H. A special thank you and gesture of appreciation was made for the Dean of the Consular Corps of Malta Hon. Consul Godwin E. Bencini, who arranged, in cooperation with the F.U.E.C.H.-Secretariat, an excellent side-programm for the Consuls present in Malta.
Following the Board-Meeting, the Board-Members were invited by the President of Malta H.E. Ms. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, for an offi cial meeting at the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta, the offi cial seat of thepresent in Malta.President, in order to inform H.E. about the aims of F.U.E.C.H. resp. to be imformed concerning the future agenda of the President in the future for Malta. The same day the F.U.E.C.H. Board attended an offi cial visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Malta H.E. Dr. George Vella, who welcomed F.U.E.C.H. in Malta and expressedhis appreciation for the work and ambitions of F.U.E.C.H. he also pointed out the importance of Honorary Consuls for Malta abroad and of those accredited to Malta. The next day the Board had been invited for lunch at the private Residence of H.E. Ms. Marie-Louise Coleira Preca, President of Malta, at San Anton Palace.
The Board-Meeting of F.U.E.C.H. in Malta, together with the offi cial recognition availed to F.U.E.C.H. in Malta, made this meeting an important success for the future work of F.U.E.C.H. to improve the status and working conditions of Honorary Consuls in Europe.
